The King's Head Hotel is a stunning riverside hotel/restaurant and public house in the lovely Cumbrian village of Ravenstonedale. It is everything a good pub should be: warm, friendly and welcoming both to the local community and to visitors alike. Privately owned and operated, The King's Head has been a feature of the local community for hundreds of years and our commitment to remaining a great local pub is as strong as ever. Our Team is committed to bringing you a safe and enjoyable place to eat, drink and relax every time you visit. With roaring log fires, great Real Ales and Wines, proper Pub Food, well cooked and with big portions. There is much to enjoy nearby including the upper Eden Valley, the Howgill Fells and beautiful rolling Cumbrian countryside.

We have 6 individually designed letting rooms available 365 days each year. Our rooms are a mix of Doubles and Twin rooms and all are en-suite with a bath and shower. So whether you're looking for a quiet pint and a place to while away an hour or two, a relaxed dinner, or a longer stay to take in some of the most stunning landscapes in the whole of the UK, The King's Head, which is both in Cumbria and also the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is the perfect place for you. Absolutely fantastic experience at The Kings Head. The service was excellent from start to finish, and the owners made us feel incredibly welcome. They really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect and that we were looked after properly.

Hidden Gem

What a fantastic pub, it's just like a hidden gem, we've just stayed for one night, wish I could have stayed for more but will certainly be back, it is so cosy in the pub, and warm with the open fires going, great beer, the food is top notch the Sunday roast is amazing.

We had the loveliest stay ever at The Kings Head. A quaint, quirky, cosy and inviting establishment run by genuinely really nice people. Our whole stay from start to finish could not have been better. Food, drink and thoughtful little extra touches really did make our visit perfect.

Our Story

Five centuries of hospitality

Built in the 16th century, the King's Head in Ravenstonedale has been a landmark in the area for 5 centuries. It is a Grade 2 listed building. The pub was completely rebuilt between August 2010 and July 2011 after being closed for nearly 3 years. The pub re-opened on Monday 11th July 2011 and new owners took over in August 2020 after coronavirus restrictions were lifted. From that moment on we have built up a reputation for a welcoming atmosphere, fine dining and excellent accommodation. Our team extends a warm welcome to guests of our pub/restaurant/hotel.
